Blood Sorcery •••

This power allows a vampire to mystically transfer the feelings of pain felt by themselves onto others or the pain of another onto themselves. This ability allows the one having their pain taken away to act at their full potential without being impeded by their wounds, or it allows the vampire to weaken an enemy by forcing them to feel increased pain.
All practitioners of Nahuallotl (the style of Blood Sorcery practiced by Mesoamerican vampires) must physically shed the blood they expend to use Blood Sorcery powers, this bloodletting can range from a slice across the palm to flagellating themselves with ritual whips. A method practiced by traditional users of this style of sorcery was to cut the tongue or earlobe as blood from those areas is considered more potent, some carry large cactus spines to use in their bloodlettings.

  • Cost: 1 Rouse check
  • Dice Pool: Composure + Blood Sorcery, Resolve + Blood Sorcery vs Composure + Occult or Fortitude
  • System: The user must touch the target of the power and choose whether to give or receive pain; when receiving pain they roll Composure + Blood Sorcery against difficulty 3 and on a successful roll the target is no longer under the effects of Impairment, though the user of the power now suffers these penalties no matter the amount of damage they have sustained to their Health.

If forcing pain on another, roll a contest of Resolve + Blood Sorcery vs Composure + Occult (Vampires with Fortitude may resist with Stamina + Fortitude.) On a win, the target now suffers the effects of Impairment that were previously felt by the user. If the target is already Impaired by damage to their Health tracker then the penalties are added together (-4 to Physical dice pools.) This effect cannot be used unless the user is already Impaired due to damage, or due to taking on the pain of another.
This power cannot be used to transfer Impairment from damage done to Willpower.

  • Duration: One scene, or until the user ends the power
