Protean ••••

Legends talk about Tzimisce awakening a terrifying “Zulo form”, Ministers taking on the form of a Typhonic beast, or Gangrel becoming a monstrous half-man-half-bat. While it’s fallen out of favor in recent nights due to the Masquerade risks, none can deny how effective this power can be.

  • Cost: Two Rouse Checks
  • Dice Pool:
  • System: The transformation takes one turn, during which the user can take no other actions. The resulting shape is specific to the individual, but always something horrible and nightmarish and most distinctly unnatural.

When in war-shape, the vampire distributes three bonus dots between their Strength, Dexterity, and Stamina (which can’t raise any attribute above 5), and does not need to Rouse to activate any Protean powers of level three or lower. They also add their Protean to all Intimidation rolls (which does not stack with any bonuses from other discipline powers).

  • Duration: One scene, or until ended.

Some wordplay-inclined Gangrel are known to refer to this power as "Fright Form".
