This die needs to be tracked, as it possesses a special property related to Willpower rerolls:

If the player rerolls any regular 10s on the roll in order to prevent a Messy Critical, the single added die is removed from the pool, unless it scored a 1 or 10 - the Beast denying the Vampire’s demands just as the Vampire denies the Beast’s.<br>
