Animalism ••

The Bestial instincts of a vampire can all too often prove to be a detriment, unfit for the modern world as they are. While the Beast might not be of much use when it comes to technology and making pretenses, there are still things it excels at - hunting, maiming, domination. A smart Vampire knows when (and how) to work in tandem with their primal urges when the need arises.

  • Cost: Free
  • Dice Pool: None
  • System: Can add a single Hunger Die to any roll related to directly satisfying vampiric urges (establishing dominance, feeding, combat with intent to kill or maim, satisfying compulsions, anything a Frenzying vampire might reasonably attempt etc.)

This die needs to be tracked, as it possesses a special property related to Willpower rerolls:

If the player rerolls any regular 10s on the roll in order to prevent a Messy Critical, the single added die is removed from the pool, unless it scored a 1 or 10 - the Beast denying the Vampire’s demands just as the Vampire denies the Beast’s.
The same rule applies to 1s and avoiding Bestial Failures only if you are especially antagonistic towards your Beast. Examples include high Humanity, frequent avoidance of Messy Crititals, frequent avoidance of feeding, Blood Asceticism (Forbidden Religions p. 89) loresheet advantages
This power is always active during a Frenzy.

  • Duration: A single roll.
