Potence

  • Amalgam: No
  • Prerequisite: None

Normally a blood surge only lasts for a single action. This power extends the effect of blood surge, though only when used on Strength.

  • Cost: Free
  • Dice Pool: {{{dicepool}}}
  • System: Every level of Potence adds one turn to the duration of blood surges when used on Strength. Multiple blood surges do not stack, instead simply resetting the duration. This power has no effect on blood surges of attributes other than strength.
  • Duration: Passive.

This could also make a good blood sorcery discipline at level 2 or 3 and it would work on all kinds of blood surges or you just decide on 1 attribute when using the discipline, or as a ritual.

"Duration: Passive." what does this mean? Shouldn't it say X rounds per potence level?

Also a minor niggle, blood surges don't last for a turn they last for one roll, so if you need to make 2 rolls involving strength only the roll you surge on will get the surge bonus, as you yourself state "Normally a blood surge only lasts for a single action." and then you say it adds a turn to the duration per level of potence. So that becomes 1 roll + one turn per potence level, that's a bit ambiguous. I assume it applies to all rolls using strength in those rounds, it could also be one roll per turn. Maybe rephrase so its clearer.

e.g. "This power extends the effect of blood surge, though only when used on rolls incorporating Strength." and "The surge duration changes from one roll to 1 round(meaning all strength rolls that round) + 1 round per level of potence.


One thing to bear in mind before allowing this in your game. This kind of brings back how old potence works, it's not a 1 to 1 thing of course. I like it though.
