Some SI have taken to using stakes lined with several large metal barbs or hooks after witnessing this power in action.
To remove a stake requires a an extended strength roll, with the number of successes needed dependent on how deep the stake is embedded. Two successes if the stake is barely piercing the heart, four successes if the stake is completely through the heart, six successes needed if the stake has completely impaled the body and is sticking out the back. Barbs or hooks on the stake add three to the needed successes, and on a bestial failure the vampire rips his own heart out with the stake, resulting in final death.
|duration=Until the stake is removed, or the vampire's strength drops to zero, whichever comes first.
