|name=Death Knell

|prereq=Fatal Precognition
|description=As the Clan of Death, the Hecata have a vested interest in knowing when new deaths happen within their territory. This ceremony alerts them every time a human or vampire dies, and—perhaps more importantly—when a new wraith or spectre arises.
|cost=Opaque pigment, grave dirt, mineral oil, and a bell made of pure iron
|dicepool=The ritualist mixes the ingredients together to make a luminous ink, then sings a strange and inhuman elegy while painting the words across the inner surface of the bell. At the climax of the song, they ring the bell once, then tear out the clapper to silence it.
|system=Whenever a sentient being dies within the creator’s Domain, the bell chimes softly. The exact tone conveys whether the deceased was a mortal, ghoul, or vampire, and whether they became a ghost.

Until the sound dies away, anyone can touch the inside of the bell and make a Wits + Occult or Oblivion roll (difficulty 2) to sense the deceased’s name, appearance, final emotional state, and the distance and direction to the place of death (one piece of information per point of margin), but takes a point of superficial willpower damage from the intensity of the experience.

Similarly, as long as the sound remains, any powers of Auspex which can apply to a single person or cadaver can be applied to the bell, giving results as if they had targeted the deceased.
