The official rules say Paradox is caused by Vulgar magic. In these alternative rules Paradox happens when Mages fail a Mage fails at casting spellstheir spell.<br><br>
If a Mage fails at a magic roll their Paradox level goes up by 1. A critical failure or botch then releases that Paradox in the form of a Quiet (Insanity).<br><br>
