Protean ••

  • Amalgam: Auspex 2

Created by a cult that worships a "lost" Antediluvian who never embraced, this power allows a vampire to alter the properties of inanimate objects. Kindred find themselves able to change something's colour, shape and texture. Some are even able to fuse and separate objects from each other. However, they are unable to outright change the material that the object is made out of. They couldn't turn steel into silver to stop a werewolf or turn lead into gold, although you could certainly try to con someone with it. The changes must also have the same mass as the original objects

  • Cost: 1 Rouse Check
  • Dice Pool: Dexterity+Protean
  • System: In order to use this power, the user must be able to work undisturbed on the object. Roll Dexterity+Protean. Every success on the roll allows a single Transmutate change to be made to that object, though the total number of changes cannot exceed the user’s Protean rating, no matter the number of applications or successes. Each use of the power takes one full turn to perform. Potential Transmutate changes are listed below:
  • Colour: The user can change the object's colour. This can be used to change a red object to a completely blue one or can be used to partially change it, so a red object now has a blue zigzag pattern as well. However each different colour used counts as a separate change.
  • Shape: The user can change the proportions of an object. They could change a sphere to a cube and back or shape it into a sharp knife. Some use this to move doors to a different wall, creating inaccessible rooms that protect or trap whatever's inside, or reshape their haven's layout to confuse trespassers.
  • Fusing: The user can fuse two objects together or split it apart. This could be used to create ladders or embed something into a wall, to make it harder to steal
  • Duration: Permanent
