Oblivion Ceremony ••

As the bearer of warmth and light, fire opposes the usual aspects of Oblivion. Still, the void knows no bounds and this ritual allows even it's opposite to be corrupted into serving it's purpose. Known by names such as Hellfire or Balefire, fire affected by this ritual becomes pitch black, bitterly cold and terrifying to behold. The cursed flame consumes any burnt organic material completely, leaving nothing, not even ash.

  • Cost: One Rouse Check
  • Dice Pool: Resolve + Oblivion
  • System: This Ceremony has the following rules and ingredients:
    • Ingredients: An open flame, the caster's Vitae and an offering of flesh.
    • Process: The caster must approach a flame, rolling for Terror Frenzy as necessary. The caster must throw in the offering of flesh, either body parts or a whole victim, gaining Stains if necessary, and pour One Rouse Check's worth of their Vitae into the flame. The caster must then chant for three turns as the flesh and Vitae burn up in the fire.
    • System: Upon a win, the flame darkens and coldens to it's new unnatural form. The flame lasts for one night with a body part or two weeks for a perfectly intact body. The length of time can be extended by adding more flesh. On a Critical win, the amount of time the flame lasts for doubles. A failure causes the flame to die down as the conflicting aspects of the abyss and fire cancel each other out. On a Total Failure, fire and abyss lash out at the caster, dealing Aggravated Health damage and forcing a Terror Frenzy at Difficulty 3.
    • Contact with this flame deals the usual damage of fire as well as forcing a Resolve + Composure test against Difficulty 3. Failure on this test causes the victim to lose Superficial Willpower damage equal to the amount of Stains they have, as the flame burns their mind as well as their body. The caster can approach this flame without rolling Terror Frenzy but the difficulty of the test for other Kindred is increased by 1.

Part of my idea for Baali in V5 where they are not a bloodline but a cult of infernalist Aapilu worshippers. The powers, instead of using demons, focus on Stains
